January 2022

CREF gave out three awards during the January conference to thank those who have gone over and above to support the Foundation.  The first award was given to Elevate Packaging for generously supporting International Compost Awareness Week by donating for the past several years stickers displaying the poster design. The stickers help with the program’s goal of building public awareness across the country regarding the benefits of composting and using compost. Rich Cohen from Elevate Packaging accepted the award.

The other two awards were given to two Board of Trustees whose terms had ended and both needed to step down from the board.  Both are academics and fortunately both have agreed to remain as advisors to CREF.  Dr. David Weindorf, from Central Michigan University and Rob Michitsch, from University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point dedicated time and energy to support the Foundation and gave a great deal of guidance regarding current and future research projects.

This toolkit is designed to help you determine if a compostable plastics program is appropriate for your organization and to guide you in properly managing your compostable plastics.

*Resources outlined in this toolkit are examples from a variety of sources to help facilitate a better understanding of compostable products and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Compost Research and Education Foundation (CREF).
